Oxford Castle will be hosting ‘Earth from the Air at Oxford Castle’ from 20th of September 2008 until the beginning of 2009. This compelling, inspiring exhibition includes 120 photographs located around the castle grounds and will include a world map highlighting environmental issues to be located in the garden area. This exhibition has been displayed in different cities around the country over the last ten years and Oxford Castle will be the only venue for ‘Earth from the Air’ during 2008.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand's mission was to create a photographic record of the natural world at the start of a new millennium. The collection of images takes viewers off the ground and into the air to witness a bird's-eye view of the extraordinary patterns and colours created in landscapes all over the world. Some are the result of human activity - farming, industry or habitation. Others are entirely sculpted by nature itself. None of these images could be seen or even imagined if you were standing on the ground.

Together they tell a unique story that provokes many questions. What are we doing to our planet? What kind of world will future generations inherit? How can we preserve the heritage of natural abundance?
