Explore your city! Over the weekend of 13 and 14 September, as part of Heritage Open Days, Oxford will open its doors for you to discover and enjoy some of its most interesting buildings and spaces, little known corners and unusual places. With over 30 venues from town & gown taking part, we hope there is something here to interest and inspire everyone and all free of charge. Be a tourist for the day and look at your city with fresh eyes, find out more about its history and even how it works. Catch a ride on an authentic Oxford vintage bus to the Oxford Bus Company’s depot or visit the Oxford Fire Station or the City Works and meet the people who keep our city running and safe. Or go on-site to see the exciting new developments at the Ashmolean Museum and Islamic Studies Centre. Climb up church towers or down the Conveyor Tunnel at the Bodleian Library - let your curiosity take you behind-the-scenes in all kinds of places. Step outside the city centre and visit the newly restored former Regal Cinema in East Oxford or be inspired by an Eco-home. Follow a guided walk, see an exhibition and then why not relax in one of the many beautiful gardens. Click here to download a leaflet. Oxford Open Doors is organised by Oxford Preservation Trust in partnership with Oxford University. This event is part of English Heritage/Civic Trust Heritage Open Days. |
